Montgomery County Circuit Clerk Papers, 1956 1 cubic box; 1 cubic foot This collection consist of ten sets of records listing 115 individuals, stem from the 1956 indictments handed down by a Montgomery County Grand Jury on February 21, 1956. The original indictments asserted the defendants violated Alabama's 1921 Anti-Boycott Act. Two sets of records are more extensive. Set one, identified as 7399, contains records related to the indictment, trial, and appeal of Martin Luther King Jr. The second set of records, 7559, stem from the December 1, 1955 arrest of Rosa Parks, her December 5, 1955 trial, the "Complaint" against her, her "Appeal Bond," and the "Certificate of Affirmance." |
