Box 2 contains Founder's Day Photos from the Centennial 2000 celebration donated by Ms. LaVonette Bartley. The photos consist of Historical Black Churches that were influential in the Development of Alabama State University that include the following: Dexter Baptist Church (now Dexter Avenue King Memorial Church) site for first registration of students "Alabama Colored People's University" First Baptist Church (site for first Baccalaureate Service, 1890) "State Normal School for Colored Students" Beulah Baptist Church (site of classroom and class sessions, "Alabama Colored Peoples University (1887-1889)" and "State Normal School for Colored Students (1889-1900)" The folder also contains a photo of the following: Dr. John Garrick Hardy Alexander Curtis (one of the Marion Nine members) Tullibody Building |
