Attorney Solomon Seay, Jr. Papers 15 cubic boxes, 1 folder sleeve; 19 cubic feet These papers consist of Title VI Reports and Statewide Monitoring Committee materials from 1999 to 2005 for all schools involved in the case of Knight v. State of Alabama. The papers contain reports of the status of each school's programs, activities, new programs and new faculty, composition of governing boards, and the changes in race each year of the administration, the faculty and the student body. Attorney Solomon Seay, Jr., 1931-2015 Solomon Seay, Jr. practiced in a law firm with Attorney Fred Gray for over thirty years and acted as lead council for the case of Knight v. State of Alabama. Attorney Seay was one of five lawyers selected by the Committee to Defend Martin Luther King and the Struggle for Freedom in the South. |
